Grace McCallum on
This book is simply amazing. The true story of Laura Ling, who along with fellow American foreign correspondent, Euna Lee, were captured on the border of China and North Korea. They were dragged back into North Korea after soldiers saw them crossing the border. They were held under 24 hour watch for 3 months, all the while back in America, Laura's sister Lisa had quit her job as a high profile journalist to take up the case and arrange to get the two girls out of North Korea and away from the possibility of 12 years in a North Korean labour camp. A thoroughly moving and intense story of the bond between sisters and the unbelievable experience of two journalists who struggled to keep their sanity during this terrifying ordeal. Beautifully written and a pleasure to read.
