Personally I found this a good read but less entertaining than the prequel 'When the Lion feeds'. If you are going to purchase this book I suggest you also purchase the prequel, as mentioned above, as there are references made to it. Still, a perfectly good novel that will have you hooked from beginning to end. After reading this you will probably find yourself a fan of Wilbur Smith. Mr. Smith does present a few words that you might need to research to find out the meaning, as he uses some native dialect that will most likely be unfamiliar. Though this does not take from the storyline at all and you could probaly read through without ever knowing their meaning and still be satisfied.
