Tortuga, the tortoise, is caught in a storm and finds herself washed up on a remote island where raiding sea birds swoop down and steal her newly laid eggs. Exhausted and alone Tortuga desperately searches for a safe place to live and a new mate. But just as she feels all is lost she discovers that some of her eggs survived and have hatched into baby tortoises!
This exciting picture book story tells how a colony of tortoises is established on a remote south sea island.
