About the Author

Jack Hill is an experienced craftsman, teacher, and writer, dedicated to keeping traditional woodcrafts alive and flourishing. He has written and illustrated several books and contributed regular articles to leading woodworking magazines including a monthly feature, "Diary from a Country Workshop" for Practical Woodworking, which ran for almost ten years. Now semi-retired, he ran his own well-established country chair-making courses and was a popular demonstrator and competitions judge. Through his teaching at venues throughout Britain and Ireland and in the USA, Newfoundland, Canada, and Finland, his work and his words are well known both nationally and internationally. He is the author of Making Family Heirlooms, Woodworking Tools and How to Use Them, Country Chair Making, and The Complete Practical Book of Country Crafts.
