Diego de Leo is Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention at Griffith University, Brisbane, where he also directs the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Suicide Prevention. He is a graduate of the University of Padua School of Medicine (Italy), where he specialised in psychiatry.
