STUART LAYCOCK has a degree in Classics from Cambridge University. He has worked in advertising and marketing and TV, and also did aid work in Bosnia during the war there. He has authored or co-authored a number of books, including Britannia the Failed State (nominated for Current Archaeology Book of the Year) and UnRoman Britain (described in the Sunday Times as 'thrillingly provocative'). His most recent book was the hugely popular All the Countries We've Ever Invaded. PHILIP LAYCOCK has a degree in History from St Andrews University, where he was also captain of the shinty team. He has been a history teacher in Essex for more than thirty years, and is currently Head of Humanities at St Helena School in Colchester. He is also an experienced climber whose achievements include climbing the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc.
