Juan E. Corradi is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at New York University. He is also Chairman Emeritus of the Seamanship Committee at the New York Yacht Club. Juan is a well-loved character in sailing circles, and continues to be a prominent winning sailor and regatta organizer in New England. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, he aspired in his younger years to become the ideal Argentine: an Italian who speaks Spanish, dresses like an Englishman, and lives in Paris. Fulfilling most of those youthful dreams, Juan is now an American, lives with his wife Christina Spellman in Newport and Manhattan, where they are well-known for their devotion to classic boats, fast cars, and English Springer Spaniels.
"You should read this beautiful story. You should read it, and rejoice with Pirate, Juan and Christina. And you will laugh until you cry, feel the fearful emotion of facing waves as high as a two-story building, or smile tenderly when you finally realize how deeply can a man and a woman love a sailboat."--Matteo Salamon, Founder and Administrator of Classic Swan Yacht Association
