Walking The Way in Wonder and Words: Letters from the Heart differs
from these in that the author has written a collection of letters
to pilgrims and people she met on her 2019 Camino, or whom she
carried with her from her previous Caminos. Seeing the
extraordinary in the ordinary, describing places, people, and
interactions in almost lyrical prose, each pilgrim or person,
offers unique opportunities for her to practice what she has coined
the "L Words, words which hold equal measure of challenge and
opportunity .... language, listening, loving, living, and
learning."
She shows that none of us is perfect and, even as an
internationally accredited mediator and coach, she learns that the
old maxim: "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear" is
true. After an incorrect first impression of an Italian pilgrim she
writes, "and there on the terrace, the universe clearly had it in
mind that this learner needed a teacher, to be reminded about the
danger of ungrounded assessments, the untruths they tell, and the
great disservice they do to both assessor, and those assessed."
I recommend this book for all of life's learners. This is not a
practical 'how to' walk the Camino. This collection of letters from
'The Way', is a 'how to' listen, love, and learn every day, not
only on the Camino. Sylvia Nilsen, Founder of 'amaWalkers Camino'

Walking a Camino is a thoroughly personal experience. The intensity
and intimacy of Sharon's journey is beautifully told. She lays her
heart open, on the road, and on the pages, and shares her insights
generously. No two Caminos are ever the same, and Sharon inspires
the reader to travel their own pilgrimage; on Camino, and into the
soul.Gabriela Andrew, Founder of 'Cape Camino', Hopefield, South
Africa
In a time when humanity is in need of humanity, Sharon's writing is
like a soothing balm for the soul. Her skilful ability to
wonderfully weave words that reflect her heartfelt interactions
along The Way, will have you laughing, crying, and reflecting on
your own interactions with others. It is her talent as a born
listener and graceful writer, that makes this book so very special.
The words, the people, the places, the emotions, the insights are
all magically presented in a way that makes it very hard to put
this book down. You'll be left enlightened, hopeful, and believing
that despite the good and the bad in all of us, there is hope for
the future, if we simply take the time to thoughtfully listen to,
and learn from our fellow human beings.Pamela Dangelmaier, Author
