JACK ITO, PH.D. is a psychologist, relationship coach, intervention specialist, author, and speaker. He earned his doctorate in clinical psychology and masters degree in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. He has held positions as college professor, clinic director, specialist for the US Navy and Marine Corps, as well as intervention specialist consultant for numerous churches and Christian organizations. His formal training in coaching is from MentorCoach LLC. Coach Jack offers hope and practical solutions for severely damaged relationships. "Regardless of the particular problems, no one wants to have a bad relationship. That's a common starting point for win-win interventions." Coach Jack uses no-conflict, positive communication and down to earth examples to take people, wherever they live, from emotionally distant to emotionally close relationships. Coach Jack sees a person's desire to separate or divorce as a willingness to give up what is not working and an opportunity to finally make the relationship a good one. "People don't want to break up, they just want a good relationship. Once they are willing to do what is necessary, their success is practically guaranteed. The problem with most relationships is that people spend too much time doing what is unnecessary before they are ready to do what is necessary." Coach Jack grew up in a small town in Vermont, in a family devastated by abuse and emotional conflict. "My father was a violent and insecure man; my mother was a loving, but dependent housewife who spent her days wishing she had never married him. There was no one who could help us to be a family. They just told my mother to leave him, and she couldn't bring herself to do that. Now, I realize he was as much a victim of his behaviors as she was. Neither of them knew what or how to do what was necessary to bring peace and love into their relationship. It's my intention to never let people I coach be left without a way to improve their relationship." Coach Jack now travels the world coaching, writing, and speaking. He lives with his wife, and maintains homes in the United States and Japan. His passion is people and relationships.
