Why is this happening to me? Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people? When a hardship descends or tragedy strikes, how do we respond? After the shock, fear, anxiety often come anger, bitterness, resentment - and lingering questions: why ? Author Violet Hamilton digs deep to offer a remarkably candid and intimate sketchbook of life with her husband, Harvey, and their 50-plus years together - sometimes traumatic, others downright comical. As you read, you will rejoice with them in God's faithfulness as it is passed on to generations. Whatever joys or trials one may have encountered in life, there is always hope. This riveting and inspirational volume offers reassurance of a loving, caring and ever-present God - from our darkest hours to our mountaintops. You will be glad that you got to know Violet and her family, and will want to share her story with everyone you know.
Be prepared to laugh, to cry, to reflect, and to be inspired. Violet Hamilton touches us all in her book, -Why God Why?- She shares her journey, inviting the reader along for the ride. It's a love story, detailing how she met and married Harvey. Her book is about living, drinking in the essence of life; embracing it in its entirety. She paints a word picture about the survival of the human spirt; a woman, a wife, a mother, a business woman, and a Christian. It has been my privilege to know the Hamilton family for nearly four decades. I first became acquainted with them when I served as a youth pastor of their daughter, Wendy. I was struck by her spiritual maturity and sensitivity to others. She was beyond her years in insight. You're not supposed to have -favorites- but Becky, my wife, and I could not help but feel a special connection to her. I was speaking to several hundred high schoolers in the front gym of the Thomas Road Baptist Church when a note was passed to me. -Wendy Hamilton has been in an accident, pray,- it stated. Soon afterward, her tragic and unexpected death impacted all of us. The Scripture states, -That I might know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his suffering.- There is something powerful about sharing the -suffering- experience at the loss of someone so young. Amidst that suffering there is something supernatural about sharing the -power- of His resurrection in the aftermath of healing in the acceptance of such loss. Violet eloquently and intimately opens the window of her soul to share her loss and her healing of Wendy's home going. The Bible offers, -Whatsoever was written aforetime was written for our learning that we through patience of the scriptures may have hope.- The Scriptures are a collection of divine stories given for the benefit of readers' encouragement. In this manner, Violet transparently invites us to experience her life of -special stories- that will touch all who read them. Thank you, Violet, for putting to pen, -Why God Why?- My life has been enriched by your successful record of God's work in and through you. -You are an epistle known and read of all men.- Your life is one that puts Christ on display amidst your journey. No doubt, this book will be used by our Lord to touch the lives of countless. I am honored to have been a small part in that journey.
