Victor J. Danilov is the director of the Museum Management Program at the University of Colorado. He has written extensively about museums, galleries, and historic sites, and was former president and director of Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.
Danilov provides a wealth of descriptive information that museum professionals, historians, and the general public will find quite useful. * American Reference Books Annual * The excellent bibliography blends both museum publications and women's studies. * Museline * What makes this volume truly outstanding is its presentation: entries are grouped thematically, which provides a cultural context for each institution's role. Additionally, indexes offer alternative methods of use, listing entries by both institutional name and individual involved, thus presenting a more ready-reference type of organization. Combined, these diverse points of access create a multifunctional volume. . . . Danilov's unique compilation will, it is hoped, encourage further study of this fascinating aspect of museum history and development. . . Recommended. * CHOICE *
