Gerard (Jerry) Markham is retired, has six grandchildren and is a first-time children's book author. His affiliation with Ray of Light Farm, Mr. Beans and the many books he has read to his grandchildren inspired him to write a book of his own. Jerry received a BS in Engineering from the United States Military Academy, West Point along with an MBA from Webster University. Jerry served as an Army Infantry Officer and has held several executive positions in various businesses during his work life. Because of his unorthodox background for writing children's books, he relied heavily on his wife and family's support to produce The Wonderful Mr. Beans. Jerry relates to Mr. Beans. Both have gone through unexpected changes in their lives. Both share a new journey. Christy Stoddard is a wife, mother, Special Education teacher and watercolor artist. She currently lives in Connecticut with her husband, three children and four rescue animals. She has developed a Unified Art class for her local art center, as well as donated her time to help women and their families overcome adversity. She is honored to have illustrated this book for her Dad. "I have met a lot of kindhearted people while working on our book. They tirelessly devote their lives to saving animals. Mr. Beans has given us many moments of peace. His journey reminds us to share our love and individual strengths with all those around us. Art has taught me to celebrate everyone's differences, be myself and always see color within my world. I hope you enjoy the colors and feel the warmth from the animals. Remember to find those moments of peace and be yourself. You just never know where it will lead you."
"Who doesn't love a great book about animals? Mr. Beans was a great
hitwith my first graders! We absolutely fell in love with our
donkey friend, Mr. Beans. We know that life can be challenging and
scary at times, but Ray of Light Farm gives animals a second
chance. Mr. Beans' story shows us we all may look different and
come from different backgrounds but when it comes right down to it,
we are all family." - Michelle Jenkins, First Grade Teacher, Saint
Mary Star of the Sea School, Hampton, VA.
"Mr. Beans is a wonderful book. A great story and the illustrations
are just absolutely outstanding. Christy has such talent and I'd
expect a great career for her. Thanks again for making us aware of
the book...can't wait to read it to our grandson." Charlie
Edmonson, proud grandfather, avid reader, church Leader, and
retired bank VP, Hampton, VA.
