Jackie Huang is a Korean-born, San Rafael-based artist. He created Woolbuddy in 2009 after he'd grown frustrated with the mass-produced toys on the market, so he used his background as an animator for Lucasfilm to create the collection of unique characters for his daughter. He has since left Lucas and devoted himself to growing Woolbuddy by making a book, teaching classes and selling at fairs like Comic-Con (where in the first year he sold out of his toys by the 2nd day), Bazaar Bizarre, Maker Faire, NY Gift Show, Renegade and more. Last year, Jackie began to sell Woolbuddy Kits after receiving so many requests for instructions. Jackie is currently working on a line of toys with a licensor and a line of stationery.
"There are many felting books that focus on creating small animal
toys, but few contain projects with as much verve as those in this
book. Felters will love making these little woolbuddies."
