Ubi Soft’s latest combat flight simulator, IL-2 Sturmovik is set to meet the standards set by Microsoft in its own forays into the PC oriented genre.
The IL-2 Sturmovik fighter plane, also known as the Stormer, was crucial to the outcome of World War 2 in aircraft terms. This PC game, appropriately based upon the Second World War, gives players the opportunity to gain control of this superior fighter plane and participate in some of the many battles that took place in this grisly era.
IL-2 Sturmovik is divided into two primary modes of play: Campaign and Quick Mission. The former enables player to become involved with the plot of the game and progress through a variety of missions in which you must participate in a series of air-to-air and air-to-ground battles. You will be engaged in battle with up to 40 other fighter planes as you strive for survival.
On the other hand, if you’re not in the mood for an in-depth game, you can participate in one of many single missions the game has to offer. This mode is pure action as you fight plane-to-plane with the enemy. The game handles sufficiently via the use of the keyboard, but the experience is enhanced greatly with a Flight Yolk.
IL-2 Sturmovik also features a comprehensive multi-player game in which you can battle with up to 32 players in dogfights and co-operative missions.
This latest PC flight simulator does indeed give Microsoft a run for its money. With all the aforementioned features and gorgeous visuals to match, IL-2 Sturmovik will meet the expectations of even the most hardcore flight sim fan.
