As The Walking Dead: A New Frontier (season three, for those keeping count) begins, we bear witness to new playable character Javier and his family say goodbye to his father. It's a tender moment, but it's just before the titular dead are about to start walking and... well, it goes badly.
And so we're thrust into the latest instalment of Telltale Games's adventure game series set in the same world of Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard's smash hit comic series of the same name. And, while Javier is our new playable character, series mainstay Clementine is once again back to continue her journey.
While we get a glimpse into the early days of this world in which zombies roam the Earth, the action takes us to more familiar environments as things progress. We witness a world in a state of ongoing collapse. Pockets of civilisation emerge, but can the humans who live there be trusted? Once again, the undead are a constant looming threat but it's the human interactions that form the meat of the game. It's up to you to make the right calls. It's a game not so much about action as it is about drama, and the weight of living with loss.
This season pass disc gets players access to all five episodes as they're released, with one and two already out at the time of release.
