Aluminium non-stick skillet with lid and helper handle of the Pro Induc range. It comes with a glass lid and has a non-heat-conductive bakelite handle. The skillet is suitable for all hobs, including induction.
Aluminium is an excellent conductor of heat - 5 times iron, 14 times stainless steel. Thanks to its superior conductivity, an aluminium pan distributes the heat uniformly over the entire surface and cooking temperatures are easily controlled. This makes it possible to obtain even cooking of food of any shape and whatever their position in the pan with respect to the centre of the burner.
A skillet (or sauté pan) is a wide pan with straight or slightly curved sides that are usually somewhat higher than those of a fry pan. It generally has a lid and a long handle on one side. Heavier skillets can have a helper handle on the other side, which makes them easier to lift.
In a skillet you can efficiently cook meats and a variety of other foods. Thanks to the higher borders, you can combine your food with a sauce or broth. A skillet is ideal to prepare e.g. a ratatouille in it. A skillet is also called a sauté pan. Sautéed food is cooked for a short period of time over high heat, to brown the food while preserving its colour, moisture and flavour. This is usually done with more tender cuts of meat before you roast it.
