Created by TCN-9 executive Bruce Gyngell and modelled on the successful American musical/variety show of the same name, Bandstand was hosted by the ever-charming Brian Henderson and set the TV standard for 14 entertaining years, showcasing the very best of Australian and international Pop and Rock 'n' Roll music of the 60s and 70s.
In 1967 Bandstand celebrated one of Britain's most popular and versatile female vocalists. In the humble words of host Brian Henderson, "this special presentation is perhaps the most polished and professional Bandstand ever made".
Successfully making the transition from folk-pop to soul, international music sensation Dusty Springfield sings 11 solo songs on this special artist presentation of Bandstand and performs two lively duets with guest performers Freddie Paris and multi-instrumentalist John Sangster. Also featuring a casual sit-down interview, where the singer discusses her past and the demise of The Springfields.
