Edgier and racier than its predecessor, Battlestar Galactica 2004 is a complete re-imagining of the 1970s series - upping the ante on the action, adventure and drama that made the original so poular. The groundbreaking story of man versus machine remains, but this time, the Cylon robot is no longer a recognisable can move among man.

With the 12 colonies of man virtually destroyed in the climax of a hundred year war with the Cylon empire, President Roslin (Mary McDonnell) and commander Adama (Edward James Olmos) gather up the few humans left on the twelve worlds and embark on a journey to find the mythical planet Earth, the supposed thirteenth colony of mankind.

Battlestar Galactica 2004 gives new life to the stories and ideas that were at the heart of the original series, with a compelling plot, breathtaking special effects and riveting, action packed adventure, speaking to both long time fans and a new generation of admirers!

I always get shtick for watching Battlestar Galactica. But it really is one of the greatest dramas on modern day TV. Though the fact that it is 'si-fi' tends to wear a great deal of people off of it, it really does boast some of the greatest writing and acting on television today.
It's hard to describe it without making it sound like a regular 'si-fi' show, because it really is the dynamics which make this show so amazing. It's something you have to see, for what you read will never live up to seeing it for yourself.
All I can say is that I would reccomend this show in a heartbeat, it's compelling and above all it draws you in and doesn't rely on a laugh track like most of the shows on television at the moment.

This is a really good TV series, and it works brilliantly as a drama, regardless of its science fiction content. It was rated by many critics as one of the best dramatic series being shown, and I think, it deserves its accolades. It is does not have a lot of science fiction elements, as the underlying premise of a group of humans fleeing in space ships from a terrible enemy, functions as a backdrop for many everyday dilemmas that people experience. The dramatic and character elements of the series always over shadow the science elements. It is not a "Star Trek", and so if you want to see gripping action drama, with a touch of mystery and imagination, then this is an excellent choice.

ok this series is no where near as good as all the critics and fans are making it out to be. i dont have anything against it its just not that fantastic, sure compared to any other sci-fi currently on tv its superb, but what is that really saying? oh and you will need to buy and watch the mini series that begins before this so called season 1 compelte set
