Buster Keaton Collection - The Masters of Cinema Series [Region B] [Blu-ray]

Collection of three silent comedies starring actor, producer and director Buster Keaton. In 'The General' (1926), the film follows southerner Johnnie Gray (Keaton) who is denied entry into the Confederate Army due to the valuable work he does as an engineer. However, his fiancée Annabelle Lee (Marion Mack) believes he has failed to sign up because of his cowardice. When Johnnie's train, The General, is stolen by Unionists with Annabelle still on board he gets the chance to prove his bravery and embarks on a hair-raising adventure. In 'Sherlock Jr.' (1924) a withdrawn film projectionist (Keaton) fantasises daily about becoming a detective by the name of Sherlock Jr. When he falls for a girl, another man attempts to win her affections by framing him in a petty theft of her father's pocket watch, and the trainee detective daydreams about solving the crime and proving to the woman that he is innocent. Finally, in 'Steamboat Bill Jr.' (1928) William Canfield Jr. (Keaton), a young college student, goes to visit his father William Canfield (Ernest Torrence), also known as Steamboat Bill. Much to the disapproval of their fathers, young William falls for Kitty King (Marion Byron), the daughter of Bill's rival, J.J. King (Tom McGuire) a boat owner with successful businesses in the local town. When their lives are endangered by a cyclone striking the town, young William must be the hero and rescue them before it's too late.
