Modern society draws lines between right and wrong, good and evil, rage and redemption. A moment of self-absorption and a spark of anger will cause two men to cross them. As the battle of wills escalates, both lives are changed forever. Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Affleck star in a provocative and gripping drama that exposes the best and worst in all of us.

Synopsis

Affluent Wall Street lawyer Gavin Banek (Ben Affleck) and recovering alcoholic Doyle Gipson (Samuel L. Jackson) are both on their way to vital court hearings when they get involved in a fender bender accident with each other on New York's FDR Drive. In a rush, Banek leaves the scene without doing things by the book, but he leaves behind an important document. Stranded, Gipson is late for a custody hearing, and so begins a cruel game of one-upmanship between the men. Changing Lanes is an engrossing, intelligently scripted urban drama.

Why aren't there more films like this? A single road rage incident triggers off a series of violent incidents, and eventual face off between two men. Samuel Jackson and Ben Affleck (suprisingly) do excellent work in the lead roles, in a film which will have something for everyone. One flaw, the incident which inflames the situation seems a little trivial...

a really pooor movie here with respect to the high profile actors that were captured by the script. Ben Affleck doesnt do anything different and Samuel L Jackson isnt given enough to do. I also though the character played by Australias Toni Collette and even Amanda Peet could have been given more screen time

A lawyer in a rush has an accident with a working class stiff on his way to an important trial as well. The lawyer rushes off and leaves one very pissed of man to try and pick up the pieces. Since that doesn't work he decides on revenge. Could have been a really stunnibg modern morality fable but it never quite transcends.
