In this special-effects packed, highly anticipated event motion picture, an abrupt climate change has cataclysmic consequences for the entire planet. Climatologist Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid) predicted the coming of another ice age, but never expected it to happen during his lifetime. A sudden and violent shift in global weather causes extreme elements to wreak havoc in every corner of the earth; floods, hail, tornados and temperatures of a magnitude never seen before threaten the planet. Jack has to quickly convince the President of the United States to evacuate the country in order to save millions that are in danger, including his son Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal). When Sam is marooned in a sub-zero New York City, Jack must make a perilous trek against the clock to save his son.

Directed, Written by Roland Emmerich (Eight Legged Freaks, Godzilla, Independence Day) comes a film so boring, yet so interesting. So hollywood.

When global warming causes world wide disasters and leads to an ice age, a climatologist named Jack Hall tries to rescue his son Sam who is trapped in New York. Jack must go from Washington D.C. to New York, but on the way some things happen. Can Jack rescue his son?

Starring Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal and Ian Holm.

The special Effects are good. But the story is weak and far-fetched.

It aint bad, but aint very good either.

I suggest seeing something less Hollywood.

love this movie! its great, i really enjoy it, and can watch it over and over again without getting sick of it. there are so many cool scenes in here, although they are a bit scary, and made me feel a bit scared if that were to happen in real life! nice to see jake in a more normal role too. this has everything you want in a movie, a good plot, good acting, good action scenes, and a nice romance!

OK, definitely this is not very smart movie and it has many holes in the story, but if you like this kind of movies you will got a lot of fun! I mean, you should know what you can expect of this kind of movies. If you like movie "Independence Day" you will know what I mean (BTW good recommendation from IMDb team!). If you want art or some wisdom message or you are searching for holes and sanity in the storyline, forget it. Go and watch some European authors. But if you are looking for fun, want to relax yourself, to see some amazing and very realistic computer effects go and watch it! You will not regret. For true impression big theatar screen is mandatory!

A standard disaster film that has amzing sequences of New York being deluged and then freezing over... Dennis quiad is the Dad who is out to find his son Jake Gyllenhall. Some awesome special effects, but a pretty lame story, but it still makes for pretty entertaining viewing... well, well worth a look...
