Patrick Glover is a divorced thriller novelist attempting to raise and keep the peace between his two teenaged daughters Anna and Karen. He is sometimes driven almost to distraction by their constant teasing and, to him, shockingly modern outlook on love, sex and marriage. Helping -but sometimes hindering- his efforts is Nanny,ex-wife Barbara, his dotty mother and his agent-girlfriend Georgie... not forgetting H.G. Wells, Patricks lazy St. Bernard.
PROPOSED AND SECONDED-If Patrick only had to cope with his two zany daughters he might scrape by, but with Nanny;Barbara and Georgie to contend with, what chance has any man got?
AN EXPLOSIVE SITUATION-When Patrick and his brother Philip go to an auction to bid for their old regimental Polo Cup,things of course go wrong. Anna and Karen do not help much, and come to that, neither does HG.
THE LIFE OF THE PARTY-If Patrick's mother had said last week, that this week meant next week, and that it was only because she said it last week that Patrick got it all wrong, then the girls would not have had to find another venue for their party.
A BOOK FOR THE BISHOP-Patrick is not very happy when Snotty turns up and tries to involve him in C.L.U.C.
A CASE FOR INSPECTOR GLOVER-When Patrick Glover phones the Police to enquire if fingerprints will be left on the victim's neck after strangulation, they are not too pleased.
NOTHING BUT THE TOOTH-No names, no pack-drill; but some people would rather suffer from toothache than face the dentist.
