In the middle of the night only six months before he is to be released, Leone (Sylvester Stallone), a model prisoner, is dragged from his bed in a minimum-security prison and transferred to Gateway, a maximum-security hellhole run by Warden Drumgoole (Donald Sutherland). The warden has pulled every string he can to have Leone placed under his control, which is where he aims to keep him for the rest of his entire life. Previously, Leone had been one of Drumgoole's "charges" at another facility until he escaped to be at his father's deathbed.

Frank Leone is nearing the end of his prison term for a relatively minor crime. Just before he is paroled, however, Warden Drumgoole takes charge. Drumgoole was assigned to a hell-hole prison after his administration was publicly humiliated by Leone, and has now arrived on the scene to ensure that Leone never sees the light of day.

woah another sylvester stalone movie well it was good but i really think rocky was the best out of all his movie!!

Stallone seems to have the great touch of making touching films. Here the film starts off with a model citizen in prison who is let out at wekends from a minimum security prison but now taken to a maximum prison as the warden wants to get revenge. Stallones character Frank, had escaped from the prison of this warden to go see an old man, his best friend in hospital before he died. Now Frank has to live in hell, thereatened and beaten by the warden and having his life turned upside down while his girlfrend in the outside world waits for his release which is to come up soon but the warden sets a trap to have him kept in for much longer.

Its got action and is very very tough, rough and violent. Its a great film and it is very under rated. Not a great Stallone film compared to others or his film of the same year (1989) Tango and Cash. Its still a wonderful film and one of the last 2 very good Stallone films in the last 10 years. Really one to watch and far superior to Star Wars.

This film, Lock Up, is an interesting film and is quite good in the action genre. Sylvestor Stallone was surprisingly good in this movie, as were some of the other actors. The storyline could have been a little bit more creative but you cant have everything and it was an ok film in the end

This film is a good entertaining Stallone film. Donald Sutherland ,Sonny Landham and Tom Sizemore were all good. It is entertaining and its a good jail fighting film. I wouldn't say it is Stallone's best film but if like Stallone, the above mentioned actors, and action its worth a watch.

i have always been a fan of sylvester stalone, he always seems to nail his roles (think rocky and rambo). i thought this movie was pretty good, i was pleased after watching the movie as i was hoping it wasn't going to be a boring, uninteresting film. if you are a fan of him aswell then you should make time to see this movie.

Sly Stallone plays Frank Leone, a model convict who is six months away from parole when he is shipped to Gateway Prison, a veritable hell - hole... Donald Sutherland is hissingly evil as Warden Drumgoole, the man in charge who has got a score to settle with Leone... fairly formulaic stuff... not a bad film, and released at the same time as the similar "An Innocent Man" starring Tom Selleck...
