There was a suggestion that this went on a little too long at the box office; that Peter Jackson should have been a little more ruthless in his editing. In the context of the whole trilogy this was nonsense. The film was well paced and told the tale well. Thankfully, The Return Of The King received it's rewards at the Oscars, although one would assume that it received it's awards on behalf of the first two films as well. America couldn't have coped with presenting the Best Film and Best Director Oscars to a New Zealander three years running!

People talk about the length of the this film however is a masterpeice. the vision to film this story in three sections has to been seen to be beleived. this ending is a fitting finish to the end of this epic. I must admit that when it came out in the movies I dressed up as an orc and I did bring the old costume out for this DVD.

While Frodo & Sam continue to approach Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring, unaware of the path Gollum is leading them, the former Fellowship aid Rohan & Gondor in a great battle in the Pelennor Fields, Minas Tirith and the Black Gates as Sauron wages his last war against Middle-Earth.

at last, after giving the world three years of a spectacular trilogy, peter jackson finishes his oscar winning (it won eleven oscars, including best picture if i recall correctly) series with return of the king. an excellent, albiet a bit long and time consuming conclusion to the famous trilogy. five stars

What a treat, and a nice way to end the lord of the rings. This movie has perhaps the best graphics i have ever seen in a movie, and its all thanks to weta and mr peter jackson. The most spectacular scene in the return of the king is the fight where the ghosts come and help the good guys, and just wipe out the enemy, i cant remember the names of everyone but its just an awesome movie, awesome

The lord of the rings extended edition dvds are a must have for any movie lover. they are full of awesome and insightful behind the scenes footage and documentaries as well as new scenes in the actual movie. I highly recommend watching the movie with the director's and cast commentary, it offers a great insight into the making of the films. It is fantastic

This is the last installment of the trilogy and my favourite of the three. the scenery is stunning, the cast is perfect and so is the acting. Gollum is also a favourite of mine, he is so real and Andy Serkis did a brilliant job. Any fan of The Lord of the Rings should own this on DVD, it is brilliant and a huge achievement for Peter Jackson

this is a must watch if you have seeen and liked the rest of the trilogy, but it is actually a bit boring to watch after the first watch, in my opinion. its a real hassle how the films are so lengthy, it makes me less inclined to watch it. there are some really heartwarming and heartbreaking scenes at the end, it does make me cry. all in all a good watch, just not over and over again.
