Keanu Reeves trained under Tai Chi legend Tiger Chen during the production of The Matrix trilogy and the pair maintained a strong bond and friendship ever since. Now Keanu Reeves has turned this skill and fascination with Tai Chi into a highly charged and deeply meaningful film experience.
In bustling Beijing, ambitious young "Tiger" Chen Lin-Hu (Tiger Chen) is a rising martial arts star. Though most associate Tai Chi with peaceful, yoga-like movements, Tiger has perfected the ancient art and started to make a name for himself in the prestigious Wulin Wang martial arts championship. As his reputation grows, Tiger comes to the attention of powerful Hong Kong businessman Donaka Mark (Keanu Reeves), who runs a notorious secret underground fighting ring. Donaka is looking for a new star and he tries to lure Tiger with the promises of easy money. Tiger is wary but in need of quick cash to help save his beloved temple... so despite his better judgment, he almost immediately becomes an underground sensation. With each strike of deadly force and every victory, the darker side of Tiger's skill begins to emerge. His public fights in the Wulin Wang tournament become more aggressive, bringing Tiger unwanted attention and shame to his elderly master (Yu Hai).
Seemingly unable to harness the rage within, Tiger makes a fateful decision to try and bring down Donaka's deadly private game. But when every fight is the fight of his life, will Tiger be able to sustain his best intentions, maintain his integrity and manage the darkest and worst possibilities of his craft?
