"The man who said "I'd rather be lucky than good" saw deeply into life. People are afraid to face how great a part of life is dependent on luck. It's scary to think so much is out of one's control. There are moments in a match when the ball hits the top of the net and for a split second it can either go forward or fall back. With a little luck it goes forward and you win. Or maybe it doesn't and you lose." A one-time tennis pro, Chris Wilton (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) was used to falling just short in his life. But when he befriends Tom Hewett (Matthew Goode) and marries his sister, Chloe (Emily Mortimer), the doors are opened to the kind of money and success that Chris had once only dreamed of. Chris should have settled for happiness, but he is torn by his attraction to Tom's impossibly beautiful and sensual fiance, Nola (Scarlett Johansson). The attraction turns to an obsession that forces Chris to make a critical choice. Now everything in his life hinges on whether Chris falls short againand whether or not his luck runs out. A drama about ambition and obsession, the seduction of wealth, and the often discordant relationship between love and sexual passion.

I didn't really liked 'Match Point' movie very much because at the start of the storyline was very boring but it got little bit better after half way of the storyline. I was going to stop watch the movie after about 20mins but I decided to keep watch whole of the movie. I will not watch it again in my whole life.

I rented this movie because of the cast, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Scarlett Johanson, but honestly I was disappointed. I didn't even end up watching the end. The story line was boring and the movie didnt really flow well. Nothing much happened. I think it had the potential to be a lot better than it was.

Chris Wilton is a former tennis pro, looking to find work as an instructor. He meets Tom Hewett, a well-off pretty boy. Tom's sister Chloe falls in love with Chris but Chris has his eyes on Tom's fiancée, the luscious Nola. Both Chris and Nola know it's wrong but what could be more right than love? Chris tries to juggle both women but at some point, he must choose between them...

Honestly i didn't enjoy this movie. Jonathan Rhys-Myers charater kept being made out to be this 'wonderful guy' who was very popular and well liked by everyone around him but I didnt really see why that was. it didnt come out with his interactions with the other characters. Not an easy movie to watch. You seriously have to be in the mood for it.

I loved this movie! While the protagonists do have choices in this film the central theme of luck holds the fates of those involved. The viewer feels the helplessness of the characters and can do nothing but hope desperately that things will work out for the best. Despite the fatal flaws in the morality of Rhys, the central character, there is such relief at the release of tension that we are glad when things return to normal and the sacrifice of Nola seems a small price to pay. Excitement, drama and tension all work hard to build to a climax that doesn't let up until the closing moments of the film. Go Woody Allen!

this was another fairly typical romantic sort of drama, and you can pretty much forsee the ending within the first few minutes. there were very few interesting twists or scenes in the movie, and many of the characters acted in such ways that they were quite unlikeable. the constant tennis scenes also got on my wick.

The best part of being a spectator of this film is deciding which character that you dislike the most, or those of the main characters anyway. It is a pretty bizarre premise that a guy too scared to tell a woman a difficult decision will just up and blow people away to get around it. That really didn't ring true.

I thought was a very disturbing movie, extremely well-executed. The tragedy-like quality of movie is apparent, as you realise the protagnist will eventually do something drastic (or get caught out). The carthasis was monumental when he killed Scarlet Johansson's character. However, I absolutely hated that Woody Allen had to ruin the twist. The twist should have been more cryptic, the cop should NOT have hypothesised what actually happened. Also, the guy with key could simply have been asked where he found it.

I found this movie really strange, but quite an involving watch at the same time. While i was watching it i saw it as an indepth view into relationships, including a potentially destructive affair and the movie goes along with this for a while. Everything turns at the end when basically the main guy goes crazy.... well i won't give away the ending but its quite unpredictable - which is a good thing these days! So give this one a go for something a little different
