Moulin Rouge is a celebration of truth, beauty, freedom, but above all things love - set in the infamous, gaudy and glamorous Paris nightclub, circa 1900. This is a completely unique and groundbreaking film from visionary director Baz Luhrmann (Romeo & Juliet, Strictly Ballroom). Satine (Nicole Kidman) the star of the MOULIN ROUGE and the city's most famous courtesan, is caught between the love of a young writer and another man's obsession. Christian (Ewan McGregor) is a writer who finds himself plunged into this decadent world where anything goes - except falling in love. Prepare to enter a world where nothing is forbidden and everything is possible...

an incredible movie/musical about love, deception and song. it was amazing to watch, and i love owning the dvd with all the special features and what not. i loved the songs in it, and the story was so romantic and beautiful, as well as being a drama, yet in a funny humourous way at the same time. i reccommend it to anyone, no matter what their taste is like. one of the best musical movies ever!!

Well done musical shot in an amazing way that makes it visually spectacular to watch. The music is modern and upbeat, keeping the pace going well. Nicole Kidman and Ewen McGregor are well cast and have great voices, vital for this film. The general plot can be a little confusing at times, but this is no reason to not check this out.

This is a very tragic, yet beautifull movie. Baz Lurhman's style of film portrays the characters and emotions very well, and this movie was no exception to that. It tells the beautiful story of a young writer, and the courtesan he fell in love with, Satine. It is a beautiful love story, which is raw and real, yet so confronting at the same time. It provokes emotion in everyone, and really produces entertaining and real drama

n 1900, Christian, an impoverished writer who has come from Scotland the year before, types his story: he arrived in Montmartre and fell in with Toulouse-Lautrec and Bohemians who believe in freedom, truth, beauty, and love. They want to sell a show to the Moulin Rouge, and its impresario wants a backer so he can build a proper theatre. He's plying a duke, who wants exclusive access to the favors of Satine, the Moulin Rouge's consumptive star. She wants to be a proper actress, so the duke's offer is fine - except that she and Christian fall in love. Can Satine keep the duke at bay without losing his patronage, will he discover the lovers and kill Christian, and can love trump jealousy?

A must watch movie, part of the Baz Luhrmann's Red Curtain Trilogy. A very bohemian feel to it, with the most fitting soundtrack and emotionally manipulative storyline. It's a musical, but not a campy one - in fact, unlike most musicals where it seems really out of place for characters to suddenly break into song, the act of suddenly switching to visual radio mode almost seems normal in this movie. Watch out for Kylie Minogue's cameo as the Green Fairy.

It took me a while to get used to Baz's way of shooting. At first I hated the whole fast forward camera technique that Baz is so fond of, and the lack of any original music annoyed me, but eventually you do see the beautiful costumes, the good acting/singing and you end up admitting that Moulin Rouge is a masterpiece

Moulin Rouge is a fantastic, beautiful movie. I really enjoyed it. There is a lot of controversy with the concept of the Moulin Rouge being a place where girls sell themselves but it forms into a beautiful romantic musical that many would enjoy. It is a beautiful love story that i thought was sweet and tragic. I was crying my eyes out by the end. IIf i were you I wouldn't miss this story.
