When I saw this shortly after it came out on DVD, it got high marks just for the spectacular sound alone. It had some of the best rear-speaker sound I had ever heard. It was a showpiece for DVD players at the time.

The movie is interesting with it's main fault being a common one: overdone action at the end. Along the way, however, it has many almost jaw-dropping scenes and some spectacular mountain scenery which looks great on the sharp DVD transfer. The stunt work in here is also incredible. Martin Campbell, the same director who did The Mask Of Zorro and Goldeneye, is good at producing eye-popping action scenes.

The dialog at times is juvenile, but it could have been worse. The profanity was lower than expected, too. How accurate is it concerning mountain-climbing? Probably like most films: totally inaccurate, at least that's what a mountain- climbing expert told me, and I believe him.

All in all, however, a far better film than I expected.....strictly for the entertainment.

in this movie chris odonnell plays a man whos love and loathing is held by one sport, climbing, mountain climbing to be exact! after a nightmarish experience as a teenager, he turns his back on it, only to find circumstances against him when his sister climbs K2 and falls victim to bad weather. can he reach her in time? or will he lose another?

may sound dumb by reading the back of it, or seeing the front, but it really isnt, its a welcome change, a diferent type of movie, as we see a woman who lost her father in a mountain climbing accident out to conquer a mountain climb with a team of others, intiitaly she cant bring herself to forgive her brother for cutting the line taht saved them, and not the father,

Verticle limit is a cool movie, the idea of a movie about a hole opil;e of people climbing a moutnain sounds dumb but there are so many arts to the movie that gets your heart pumping and hands gripping the edge of your seat, definitly worth checking out if your into fast paced danger filnms
