He cleans and flosses by day and endures hell at night. Oz is a Montreal dentist married to a complete nightmare with a mother-in-law to match. Life is sheer torment - and it's about to get a whole lot worse. Oz has a new neighbour, Jimmy "The Tulip" Tudeski, a killer with 17 bodies to his credit. He's refused witness protection from the FBI after ratting on Chicago mob boss, Lazlo Gogolak and moved to Canada for his safety. Safe, he thinks. Oz's scheming wife has bamboozled him into revealing Jimmy's whereabouts to Gogolak's son, Janni, who is hellbent on planting "The Tulip" six feet under! If ever it seemed Oz had a death wish, it's right now. If only he'd stuck to neighbourhood watch.....

This movie is hilarious. I have never laughed so much ever. It has great acting, affects, dialogue, and especially superb humour – everything you need in a great movie. The movie does have a few scenes that drag out but all in all it’s a must have for all comedy fans and is suitable for basically all ages. It’s a must have, so buy it – You will definitely won’t be disappointed. Great....

I was pleasantly surprised by this off-beat comedy, which, while it may have a kind of straight to TV feel to it, is still quite funny in parts, where dentist Matthew Perry's new neighbor turns out to be an infamous hitman. The lovely Amanda Peet shines as Perry's secretary, and while it may go on a little too long, it's still a fun watch.

this is actually one of the funniest movies i have seen for a long time. dentists have the highest rate of suicides in the world and mathew perry plays a funny dentist whose gold digging wife has hired his new next door neigh bor (played by the great bruce willis) to kill him for her. a great film worth watching

I was pleasantly surprised in a few ways. Matthew Perry was playing his usual goofy character, as a result of total lack of any acting ability whatsoever. But Bruce Willis is always good, Amanda Peet stole the screen in almost every scene she was in, and the plot line was just quirky enough to be entertaining. Innovative and fresh, I found this film to be more creative than most of what's currently out in the theatres. It didn't have that formula imprint of so many Hollywood films (i.e. take the comedy formula off the shelf and cast it by Friday). I actually laughed out loud at a few moments.

The movie did go wrong in a couple of places. Rosanna Arquette's French accent is dreadful, even though it's supposedly her character's first language. Matthew Perry's love scenes with Natasha Henstridge are so ridiculously unrealistic, even the non-cynical will yawn. And the director seemed to have an obsession with pointing out Montreal landmarks, even if they had nothing to do with the plot.

Those are small things in the grand context of the movie, though. If you liked movies such as The Big Hit, this is very similar. It's not meant to be taken very seriously, so the plot turns are more for absurdity's sake than for any kind of buildup of suspense. Still, if you're looking for some lighter entertainment, it's a good choice.

It took me 5 years and a free DVD rental from the library to get around to watching this movie. I avoided it because I felt that Friends was an annoyingly lame TV show, too predictable, too cute, overacted and just not that funny. But this movie has opened my eyes to the comic genius of Matthew Perry. The guy is funny. The script is wonderfully dark comedy and achieves that rarest of feats: unpredictability. Perry's spastic character is wonderfully balanced by Willis's underplayed cool gangster. Listening to the director's commentary I found out how many of the jokes and laughs were improvisations that the actors, especially Perry and Willis, contributed on the set. The beer toss on the boat is one of the funniest moments I've ever seen on screen. The characters are all demented yet you cant help but love them and I was sorry when it ended. Also, great jazz music and a free tour of beautiful Montreal. Director Jonathan Lynn and writer Mitch Kapner will hopefully work together again.

This ia great movie, well wroth watching as its helarious for any age from young teens to adults, mathew perry made this film as great as it is, his acting style (and thankfully his charcter) is similar to chandler which meant that he didnt make ahuge leap which can be really bad if someone youve seen in a role for 10 years changes, it just looks wrong because of the expectancies you buiild, but he was great here

Fanastic, funny film. I have loved Matthew Perry since the first episode of Friends and he doesn't disappoint in this film. Bruce Willis gives a performance worthy of Robert De Niro in Meet the Parents Hilarious film, excellent plot and gives you a hearty laugh on a sunday afternoon

The Whole Nine Yards is one of the funniest films I have recently seen, and I can't wait for the video release.

The film is about an unhappily married, underpaid dentist (Matthew Perry) whose next door neighbor is no other than Jimmy "The Tulip" Tudeski (Bruce Willis), an infamous contract killer out on parole. During the course of the film, everyone wants to kill someone, and no one can be trusted. There are some interesting twists, which makes the film unpredictable.

The acting is great. The comic treat in this film is Matthew Perry; he's very funny and charismatic. Bruce Willis's acting, however, is a little restrained, but his powerful stage presence is more than enough; his portrayal of Tudeski is excellent. Amanda Peet is a scene-stealer in the film; her comic timing is precise. I also enjoyed Michael Clarke Duncan and Kevin Pollack in their supporting roles. The only blemish in the film is Roseanna Arquette -- what's with the phony French accent?

Great film. A must-see!

This was pretty good. When Bruce Willis isn't out saving the world he does pretty well in comedy roles. Here he's playing the smug character which Matthew Perry's character can't tell whether he's an ex-criminal or whether he just seems like one. His suspicions get the better of him as he investigates and the results are pretty funny.
