This 24-track release by Irish male vocal pop group Boyzone includes "And I," "Your Song," "Words," "Ben," and "Love Me For A Reason," and their hit "No Matter What," as well as an audio interview from 1998.
The self-explanatory Ballads draws material from each Boyzone studio effort, but since "ballad" is a relative term in boy band land, the set doesn't differ very much from By Request, the 1999 retrospective issued on various continents. Fans who purchased that comp -- not to mention those aficionado owners of the exhaustive Singles Collection box set -- won't find much of anything new on Ballads, besides the single "Every Day I Love You," which was only available officially as part of the Boyzone box. Still, completists should probably seek this collection out, for the sequencing, if nothing else. A video for "No Matter What" is also included. ~ Johnny Loftus
