Performer Notes
  • Slayer: Tom Araya (vocals, bass); Jeff Hanneman, Kerry King (guitar); Paul Bostaph (drums).
  • Principally recorded at Oceanway Studios, Los Angeles, California.
  • The sledgehammer rhythms and churning guitars of Slayer remain in full effect on DIABOLUS IN MUSICA. Seldom has an album been more aptly titled, as the ominous, minor key riffs and modalities that power the band's compositions are the aural personification of darkness and evil, engendering an inescapable sense of foreboding. The tunes here, from "Bitter Peace" to "In The Name of God," are streamlined metal, containing only the essential elements necessary to drive the band's message home. One aspect of the band's sound that makes them unique among their peers is that no matter how harried charcoal-throated vocalist Tom Araya's vocals become, they are always intelligible, revealing Slayer's preoccupation with politics and social, as well as personal turmoil.

Not as bad as "Undisputed Attitude", but still a very dissapointing release. This is poorl;y done, the sound quality is terrible, the guitar riffs remind me of todays nu-metal bands, the drumming is weak and Tom Arya's vocals are horrible here. The solo's are all pretty bad too. Nothing good here, allthough the lyrics are okay.

This is almost as bad as "God Hates Us All", it even includes a song about rugby (which Kerry King grew fond of after Slayer toured New Zealand). The guitar work is bad here, with some nu-metal riffs, and hardly any solo's. The vocals are really weak, these guys are too old to play thrash anymore.

If undisputed attitude wasn't bad enough to be considered "sold out", then perhaps you'd better listen to this horrible music.

This album is a mess, no thrash influence here, with nu-metal style riffing, boring drumming, desperate sounding lyrics and annoying vocals. Features Slayer's worst song "Scrum" (which is about rugby).

This is Slayers worst original album (not including Undisputed Attitude which was filled with badly done punk covers.) including nu-metal-esque riffing, horrible vocals, boring drumming and bad lyrics. The best song is "Perversions of Pain" while the worst song (which is the worst thing Slayer have ever done) is a horrible little song about rugby called "Scrum". Avoid this.
