Combining hip-hop, dubstep, jazz, funk, and reggae with oriental, African, and French influences, Racing with the Sun is the highly eclectic debut album from Marseilles collective Chinese Man. Conceived as a soundtrack to an imaginary film, its 12 tracks, produced by Sodi (Fela Kuti) develop the cinematic themes of their two Groove Sessions compilations, with samples from the likes of Easy Rider and the Holy Mountain mixed in with vocals from a whole host of guest artists including Scratch Bandits Crew, Taiwan MC, and Plex Rock. ~ Jon O'Brien
