Product Description
Product Details
Performer Notes
  • Personnel: Brian "Blister Fingers" Carter (guitar); Jim Hoke (tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone); Deanna Varagona (baritone saxophone).
  • Audio Mixer: Brian "Blister Fingers" Carter.
  • Recording information: Paradox Productions, Murfreesboro, TN; The LBT, Nashville, TN.
  • Arranger: The Features.
  • Like their successful contemporaries Kings of Leon, the Features play gritty, punk-ish rock & roll and pop music, but with a heavy dollop of soul that belies their Southern upbringing. On "GMF" the group combines a driving, Strokes-like groove and melody with Supertramp/10cc-style Rhodes keyboards and harmony vocals, while the quirky "Concrete" sounds like the Kinks jamming with `80s art-rockers Sparks. Throughout, lead singer Matt Pelham reveals his Tennessee roots by giving a vocal performance that is equal parts Michael Stipe and Stax.
Professional Reviews
CMJ - "The mellow 'Baby's Hammer' is a clear standout, highlighting the softer side of lead singer Matt Pelham's passionate vocals."

Clash (magazine) - "'Baby's Hammer''s skipping drums drive a lovely low key ballad flecked with piano while 'Lions' sounds particularly British with another chorus to kill for."
