Performer Notes
  • This South African choir sings in the traditional style known as Mbube. While Mbube is usually performed acapella, all but one of the tracks on this CD have musical accompaniment. These original compositions are sung in Sotho, Zulu, and English.
  • Amaduduzo is a powerful a cappella group whose unison vocals and intriguing mix of traditional African language and Christian influences make for a powerful blend of multiple spiritual sources. The 10 numbers have breathtaking harmonies, understated but clearly felt rhythmic counterpoint and superb leads from Ronny Bodibe, Daniel Mgudiwa and David Khambule. They've also updated the classic mbube sound by using electric keyboards, bass and drum accompaniment, but it doesn't detract from the flow or impact of the vocal arrangements. ~ Ron Wynn
