  • The Sound of Gondwana: 176,000 Years in the Making is one of the prime CDs to own for fans of didgeridoo music or those interested in starting a collection. It features four of "Australia's greatest virtuosos" on the didg. The sonority of this ancient instrument is amazing. It has a totally electronic sound yet it is nothing more than a hollowed log. The four masters -- David Hudson, Alan Dargin, Matthew Doyle and Mark Atkins -- have tremendous diversity, skill and stamina. The 12 tracks feature solo didg, subtle chants and subtle percussive accompaniment. The opening track, "The Call," also features an atmospheric synth by Michael Atherton. It is sweet. There are no weak spots here. It is highly recommended for all collectors. ~ Jim Brenholts
