  • The U.K. version of The Very Best of Dawn Featuring Tony Orlando is a comprehensive single-disc overview of their original hits from the '70s. While 20 tracks maybe a bit excessive for anyone but the completist, at least half of these tunes were chart-toppers, including "Candida," "Say, Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose," "Who's in the Strawberry Patch with Sally," "Steppin' Out (Gonna Boogie Tonight)," and the number one hits "Knock Three Times" and "Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'Round the Ole Oak Tree." ~ Al Campbell

Tune in to oldies music stations on radio and chances are a song by Tony Orlando and Dawn will be among those played. Tie A Yellow Ribbon has become a standard oldies classic, adopted as an unofficial anthem for returning soldiers and apparently based on the 19th century practice of women wearing yellow ribbons in their hair to signify devotion. Other hits are features as well which are played often on the radio such as Knock Three Times, Candida, Sweet Gypsy Rose, Stepping Out. The only disappointing thing is the album cover, as it doesn't show any photo of the group, and not much information is given about the tracks other than the year of release.
