Yoga Nidra means 'Yogic Sleep'. It is a deep relaxation in which you leave the waking state, go past the dreaming state, and enter into the deep sleep state, while remaining fully awake and alert. This state of awareness is extremely beneficial, both for releasing stress, and for experiencing the joy of subtler spiritual explorations or experiences. The voice will systematically guide you to explore your physical body, then move through 61 specific points within the body, and then practice ascending breath awareness along the body and spine.Your attention will be brought to the space between the eyebrows, then to the throat, and finally to the heart centre, where you will go deep into stillness and silence, beyond the activities of the mind. Following the custom of the ancient sages, the depth of Yoga Nidra comes from inner awareness of the levels of your own self, including your body, breath, and the subtler mind, rather than diverting attention through music or inner fantasies. I use this CD around four times per week. It has slowly, day by day, changed my life. This is the most effective Yoga Nidra recording I have ever used. By it's use I have gained in many ways:

*more refreshing sleep
*the ability to maintain a relaxed alertness that makes the events of my day flow harmoniously
*enhanced relationships with myself, and others
*a deep happiness based on calmness, tolerance, mastery of negative emotions, and self awareness.
*an emerging sense of oneness, a connection with All That Is

The gentle guiding voice of Swami J requires no New Age gimmicks, music and florid visualizations to enhance it. Nor to detract from the spiritual purity of the experience of oneness. So for those of you who need to incorporate California-style bells and whistles into their yoga and meditation experience, this is most certainly NOT the product for you. It is simple, clear, ego-less, direct and authentic Yoga Nidra. In the way that the Rishis intended.

A very relaxing CD that takes you step by step through the body so you can relax each muscle group. This CD has allowed me to fall asleep easily when wound up from the day and also allows for deeper sleep. I use it also for just a wee pick me up and do a rest with CD, very refreshing.
