"Grüss Gott! (Greetings!) I'm Austrian Barbie and I live in Austria..." Although she doesn't really talk, this member of the 1999 Dolls of the World collection certainly looks real enough. Her long, curly blonde hair is tucked behind a woven headband and she wears just enough "makeup" to bring out her features. Austrian Barbie sports a floral-print dress with an off-white bodice and a rose-colored scarf with lace edging. The flannel jacket that keeps her toasty during the Austrian fall and winter is trimmed in green and is sweetly finished with embroidered pink flowers on the lapels.
In addition to the superb detail of the lovely lady herself, collectors will be pleased to discover that the packaging contains an informative surprise of its own. Greeting and closure are in German and the text between gives highlights about the country that was home to Mozart. Austrian Barbie comes with full costume, a pearl-like ring and earrings, ivory knee socks, black shoes, stand, and hairbrush. Those who don't want to remove this collectible doll from her packaging will appreciate the open-window box. --Heidi Robinson
