The Phoenix Rocket was the first Earth spaceship to exceed the speed of light. Its inventor, Zefram Cochrane, designed the rudimentary dual nacelles that were the prototype for the Federation starship design that is still employed 300 years later. Note that the nacelles pivot into position, a design which has returned in recently launched starships such as the Intrepid Class U.S.S. Voyager.
