He was a veteran of both World Wars, serving as a lieutenant colonel with the Army Air Force in India during World War II.|Olive Hall Shadgett taught political science at the University of Georgia and Georgia State University.|Sidney Walter Martin (1911-2000) spent the majority of his career teaching at the University of Georgia. He served as the president of Emory University from 1957-1962 and later became vice-chancellor for academic affairs of the University System of Georgia.
