Reviews

The book's analysis of 'biodiversity initiatives' alongside its treatment of biodiversity loss gives it a fresh feel... the book's breadth is impressive. The book is an interesting read and the editors have achieved their goal of producing a volume that will be accessible to a wide audience....the topic is timely, and authoritative, so that despite its diverse content the book manages to be more than the sum of the parts.
*Environmental Conservation, Volume 34/4, 2008, 347-348 (Anne Magurran)*

The present book provides a very valuable introduction into environmental science and technology in general, and biodiversity in particular, for those who are not specialists in this area. This is a timely, thoughtful and authoritative account of the current state of play on the ecological battlefront.
