Reviews

"Among other studies of ancient science, the Handbook stands out above all for the wide diversity of topics it covers...On the whole, The Oxford Handbook of Science and Medicine in the Classical World is probably the most up-to-date and comprehensive guide to ancient science and medicine available today, and there is every reason to believe that it will remain an irreplaceable reference for everyone interested in the subject for decades to
come." -- Dmitry A. Shcheglov, The Russian Academy of Sciences, ISIS
"The editors have done an excellent job producing as cohesive a volume as this which can be read in its entirety or dipped into as required." -- Bryn Mawr Classical Review
"[a] most instructive compilation. What is especially impressive is the way in which the individual essays taken together carefully build up a coherent picture of change over so many areas of human endeavour over a thousand years, while at the same time closely engaging with the specifics of each era. Congratulations are in order." -- Peter Jones, Classics for All
