About the Author

Brendan O'Shea is an officer in the Irish Defence Forces, with 27 years military service. He has served in the Middle East on four occasions with UNIFIL and UNTSO and in Former Yugoslavia with the European Community Monitor Mission and later with OSCE as an International Election Observer. He currently works as the Training Officer with the 1st Brigade of the Irish Army while also lecturing at the National Military College. He also teaches Peacekeeping Theory and Practice at national UN Training Schools in Ireland, Canada, and Germany.
