2010 will mark the 65th anniversary of the atomic bomb and, with it, the end of the German fission project and the beginning of Heisenberg's internment at Farm Hall. The author plans to initiate some events surrounding these anniversaries. The author maintains his own website where he hosts materials to promote the book. On this site he also hosts materials related to his other physics books which are accessed about 1000 times per month from all over the world. He will also promote this new book on the Heisenberg website at the American Institute of Physics, along with other sites. The author is active in many professional societies. He holds a chair in the Forum of History of Physics (4800 members) and the American Physical Society. On the occasion of the anniversaries noted above the author plans to initiate a series of talks which will continue to generate interest in Heisenberg and related subjects. The author is also a participant in a new international project on the history of quantum mechanics, sponsored at the Max Planck Institute in Berlin by the German Research Association. The hardcover was selected by the Scientific American Book Club. We will include it in the pertinent CBSD subject catalog. Heavy focus on academic marketing through email blasts and the Consortium academic website. Display at various shows: ALA, Political Science, Historical Society, 1st Year Experience, etc.

About the Author

David C. Cassidy is the author of Beyond Uncertainty: Heisenberg, Quantum Physics, and the Bomb; A Short History of Physics in the American Century; J. Robert Oppenheimer and the American Century; and Einstein and Our World. He is the recipient of the Abraham Pais Prize for History of Physics from the American Physical Society, the Science Writing Award from the American Institute of Physics, the Pfizer Award from the History of Science Society, and an honorary doctorate from Purdue University. Dr. Cassidy is Professor of Natural Sciences at Hofstra University and resides in Bay Shore, New York.
