Reviews

"With that all too rare combination of extremely careful scholarship and very practical information, Dr. Palermo has provided the field with an excellent, much-needed, and comprehensive text containing state-of-the-art information about the etiology and treatment of chronic pain in children. Highly recommended!"-- Rona L. Levy, M.S.W., Ph.D., M.P.H., Professor and Director, Behavioral Medicine Research Group, University of Washington
"This is a terrific book, comprehensive, evidence-based, and well-organized, with chapters ranging from the theoretical to the practical. Palermo treats the issue of pediatric pain with the intellectual rigor of a renowned scientist and the sensitivity of an experienced clinician. This book will be useful for pediatric psychologists as well as for the many other health care professionals - nurses, social workers, physicians, occupational therapists - who are
integral to the care of youth with chronic pain. It will be an essential reference for a wide range of subspecialty clinics that treat youth with chronic pain in our Children's Hospital-
gastroenterology, rheumatology, neurology, and adolescent medicine, to name a few."-- Lynn Walker, Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Division of Adolescent Medicine, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine
"At last! An evidence-based clinical handbook for pediatric pain management! Every pain clinician and trainee who works with children will want to have a copy on this book on their bookshelf." -- Christine Chambers, Ph.D., RPsych, Professor and Canada Research Chair, Dalhousie University & IWK Health Centre
"Palermo's tour-de-force provides a superb 'soup to nuts' guide to the behavioral assessment and treatment of pediatric pain including research, clinical strategies, and helpful appendices full of charts, guides, and activities. This will become the indispensable guide for all pediatric practitioners working which children who face painful procedures and chronic pain." -- Gerald P. Koocher, Ph.D., ABPP, Associate Provost and Professor of Psychology, Simmons
College
