About the Author

Gabriela Pereira is the founder of the popular DIYMFA.com. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School, with a concentration in Writing For Children. Before starting DIY MFA, she worked as a writing teacher and freelance editor for over ten years. Her students range in age from kindergarteners to retirees, and she has worked with organizations such as 826NYC, Everybody Wins, and the East Harlem Tutorial Program.

In 2013-2014, Gabriela has spoken at several national writing conferences as well as online conferences with a total audience of over 700 writers in the past year. Public speaking appearances include the Backspace Writer’s Conference (May, 2013); SCBWI New Jersey (June, 2013); ThrillerFest/CraftFest (July, 2013); Writer’s Digest Conference (August, 2014); and WANACon (October, 2013 & February 2014).
