Fiona Summerville is a big city, Southern California girl transplanted to a small town in Texas, where she readily indulges her penchant for making things up and scribbling them down. She has two volumes of poetry currently published - Only Dark Around the Edges and Typos and All - and is working on another to be released later this year. Before deciding to chase down her dream of being a writer, Fiona made her way through the legal and corporate worlds in stilettos and pencil skirts, as both a Legal and Executive Assistant. Each career was fulfilling in its own unique way, but the call of her muses finally won out, and once she settled in Texas, she began writing in earnest. A voracious reader, she cites Daphne Du Maurier as an early influence, and Neil Gaiman as a more current, still breathing, inspiration. This love of reading from an early age made her the lover of words she is today, and while she has always been a great fan of all forms of writing, she never thought herself concise enough to contemplate writing poetry. It wasn't until she and her family were faced with series of serious medical crises that the Poet Muse emerged. Her first two books, Only Dark Around the Edges and Typos and All are collection of the poetry, prose, quotes and short stories that resulted from letting her Poet Muse run free. And she is currently working on a third collection of short fiction and a historical novel both inspired by the mysterious beauty, and lush history of North Carolina's Outer Banks. When she isn't writing, Fiona can be found out with her horses, or sipping a glass of wine while getting lost in a novel, or collection of poetry penned by one of her many favorite writers.

If you're looking for the kind of poetry that makes you feel and breathe every word...this is the book for you.-Anon- Superlative PoetryA superb collection of poetry and delicious snippets of prose. Fiona can write with such blunt simplicity and flourishing beauty, yet never fails to pierce the core of an idea. The collection covers life, love, lust and heartbreak, and each piece has a wonderful honesty to it that is often so rare. Her words can dance and drip, caress and wound. She's become an instant favourite voice in the realms of poetry. Bravo.-Cameron Lincoln- I was so moved by this collection of poetry that I've read through the book several times since getting the book, going back and highlighting my favorite lines. Fiona Summerville has such a firm grasp of language, her words can give chills, bring tears, and sometimes even turn you on. Her work is eloquent, sexy, dark, but oh so deep. I can't wait until she publishes more! She has definitely taken my breath away with her poetry. I highly recommend Only Dark Around the Edges to anyone who enjoys beautiful writing. You will feel her love and pain. Well done, Ms. Summerville. You have a forever fan in me.-Lydia M.-
