About the Author

Ruth Schmidt Neven is a child psychotherapist who trained at the Tavistock Clinic in England. She established Exploring Parenthood, a national support service for parents in the UK before becoming the inaugural Chief Psychotherapist at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne until 1994. Ruth is currently the director of the Centre for Child and Family Development in Melbourne. Vicki Anderson is a paediatric neuropsychologist and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Melbourne and Senior Researcher and Clinical Neuropsychologist at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. Tim Godber lectures in psychological assessment and health psychology at LaTrobe University in the Bachelor of Public Health, Bachelor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Behavioural Science degree programs. He has 30 years experience
