RAY B. BROWNE is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Popular Culture at Bowling Green State University, which he founded. He is editor of the Journal of Popular Culture and the Journal of American and Comparative Cultures. He is the author and editor of over 70 books and has served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Popular Culture Association and the American Culture Association since their beginnings. LAWRENCE A.
