About the Author

Shihan de S Jayasuriya has researched Sri Lanka Portuguese Creole, the lingua franca in Sri Lanka for almost 350 years, and has published in academic journals world-wide. Her three books include: Indo-Portuguese of Ceylon: A Contact Language; Tagus to Taprobane; and An Anthology of Indo-Portuguese Verse. Richard Pankhurst, who was founder and first Director of the Institute of Ethiopian Studies of Addis Ababa University, is currently a Professor of Ethiopian Studies at the Institute. His books on Ethiopian history include: An Introduction to the Economic History of Ethiopia; Economic History of Ethiopia 1800-1935; A Social History of Ethiopia; The Ethiopian Borderlands; and The Ethiopians.
